Runners Soul Spokane WA Read this before you purchase.

To me customer service is something that I am passionate about and when I receive bad service I like to share it with my clients, in a hope that you do not make the same mistake I did.  Please take a moment to read the review that I have posted about my experience with the Runners Soul in Spokane WA.

I purchased a heart rate monitor for my wife’s birthday and the day before her birthday she came home having purchased the same one form Runners Soul.  I immediately jumped in the car less than an hour later to return the item.  They said it was a sale item and it could not be returned.  I could understand it they had to pay money for processing a debit card, but my wife used cash.  I insisted they call their manager and explain that we had two of the same item and we bought it less than an hour ago.  They did call the manager, the manager insisted that it would be breaking two store policies to give cash back and return an item that was on sale.

The sad thing is that I have always known that Spokane’s Runner Soul charged full retail, but we use to shop with them for their customer service and knowledge.  Three weeks before my wife purchased a pair of running shoes for about $130 based off their recommendation.  After running in them twice, they hurt her feet when she ran.  When we tried to return them, the Runners Soul said you are outside our return policy by three days.  OK shame on us for not getting them back within 14 days.  This is a company that cares more about policy than it’s customers.  I run a business and no customer would ever hear things like “policy says” or “ you will have to come back and talk to my manager”.  I’m sorry Runners Soul has left a bad taste in my mouth and dent in my wallet.  My wish for you is that this review helps inform you on the type of company you are about to spend your money with.

Engagement Photo session on the Little Spokane River

Today I had the pleasure of spending the morning with Bryce and Ashley taking their engagement photos. They are a fun couple who braved the cold this morning an let me take them down to the Little Spokane River to take their engagement photos. They are getting married this summer on August 11th 2012, at a little place called On the Rivers Edge. I am excited to be photographing their wedding day.

Everyone I would like you to meet Hanna. Hanna is two years old and has a mind of her own and when she is done she is done. Hanna was a challange todler to photograph because she found everything in the photography studio distracting and wanted to play with it. Also I had mom and big brother saying “look here, and do this… which distracted her evern more. Once I sent mom and brother into the waiting area. Hanna began to warm up to me and started to have fun with her photos. Below is what I got, I hope you enjoy.

Newborn Photography session in Spokane WA Liquify Filter

Hello world meet newborn Jaylynn. Today Jaylynn is 15 days old and what a cutie she is. I had the pleasure of photographing this newborn photo session in my new studio in Spokane WA.  This photo required a little Photoshop.  She was photographed in a round bucket and then I used the liquify filter to shape the bucket into a heart.

Lighting setup for child photography in a studio.

When I started learning about studio lighting the things I read about most was to have a large soft box as close to your subject as possible to give nice soft light an create large catch lights in your subjects eyes. While that holds true, I found it difficult to do so when photographing children. When you place a soft box very close to your subject and meter for it, a two foot step back or to the side will under or over expose your photograph greatly. If you have never photographed a child, trust me they don’t like to hold still for long. The way to combat this is to think about the Inverse Square Law. The Inverse Square law basically states every time you double the distance between your subject and the light, your exposure will decrease by 4 times. This is useful for photographing children because if we place our light a couple feet form our subject and meter that close, any change in position form our subject would greatly affect exposure. If we place our lights 10+ feet back and meeter with the lights further away, any movements the child makes away towards or away from the light will have much less of an impact on exposure. The disadvantage of having your lights that far back, is that you will have a longer recycle time on your strobes, and will cause you to be much more selective about the shots you take (which for me is a good thing).

Child Photography in Spokane WA Studio

Payton is a typical three year old boy! It was a pleasure to photograph him today in the new photo studio. I had to bribe Payton with dinosaur fruit snacks. But once I did he was willing to do what I asked of him for at least a couple more minutes:)

Newborn Photography in Spokane WA

Below are images of newborn baby Logan.  I had fun photographing the little newborn in the new studio.  Usually I prefer that newborns be photographed in the first 10 days because they tend to stay asleep which allows you to pose them in various ways.  As Logan was almost a month old we had to used the old binky trick.  I let him suck on the binky while I posed him, and then mom pulled it out, and I took a couple of frames before he realized it was gone.  I hope you enjoy these newborn photos.
